Description

24-PORT VDSL DSLAM BUNDLE WITH A 24-PACK OF VDSL2 UPLINK & 4-PORT ETHERNET 802.11 BRIDGE MODEM KIT

5224AV-DSG

5204V-BM

DCE 5204V-BM VDSL2 HIGH SPEED EXTENDED REACH VDSL2 BRIDGE MODEM 2PACK IS PERFECT FOR VERY HIGH-SPEED CONNECTIVITY INTERNET ACCESS, IPTV SERVICE APPLICATIONS, HOSPITALITY, POINT-TO-POINT AND MDU / MTU APPLICATIONS.

The DCE/5204V-BM is a single VDSL2 port modem equipped with four Ethernet ports by embedded 10/100Mbps Ethernet Switch. Compliant with ITU-T G.993.2 VDSL2 standard, the DCE/5204V-BM supports the highest rate of up to 100Mbps/100Mbps in VDSL2 Profile (30a) with a 6-band solution.

Since VDSL2 has the characteristics of faster rates over shorter distances, the DCE 5204V-BM provides the ideal architecture for Telecoms to use fiber optic lines as the backbone and a VDSL2 line as the last mile into the home or office.

VDSL2 operates over copper wires so that telecom operators can provide bundled services to end-users similar to those that cable operators offer. With outstanding throughput, the DCE 5204V-BM complements fiber networks in offering the best solution for delivering IPTV or home entertainment services.

The DCE/5204V-BM also supports both central office (CO) and customer-premises equipment (Remote/CPE) modes for back-to-back applications.

In addition to forwarding Ethernet packets between VDSL2 port and Ethernet ports, the DCE 5204V-BM also provides Hardware IGMP snooping for IGMP v1/v2 to facilitate IPTV services without interfering with other applications.

Benefits

Standard-compliant to ITU-T G.993.2
The DCE 5204V-BM complies with the international standards and interoperates with other major/open chipsets. It supports multiple profiles (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a, and 30a); different band plans (997, 998, and proprietary) and multiple annex types (Annex A, Annex B and Annex C), by default factory settings to fit various requirements. Using the latest chip design technology, the DCE 5204V-BM consumes less power (less than 2 watt per VDSL2 port) and has shorter training time to get the device up and running.

Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) / Back-to-back / Point-to-Point Applications
In addition to using one DCE 5204V-BM to connect to ISP/Telco’s DSLAM for accessing Internet or video services, users can utilize a pair of DCE 5204V-BM for back-to-back applications. Theoretically the maximum length for Ethernet cable is within 100 meters. By using two 5204V-BM modems, users can have 100/100Mbps connectivity over a twisted-pair phone line up to 200 meters or longer. This capability can help users to bridge two distinct LAN segments in longer distance or to have surveillance service a little farther over existing twisted-pair phone cables.
Easy Installation
The DCE 5204V-BM is easy to use and easy to setup. Simply connect the hardware interfaces without the need for complicated configuration efforts, the device will synchronizes with a VDSL2 DSLAM (VTU-O) in auto-negotiated mode and allow users to access the Internet or watch IPTV almost instantly.

Application Diagram
ADSL Deployment scenario for VDSL2 using FTTx using the DCE 5204V-BM VDSL2 Modem

Perfectly Designed for FTTx Last Mile Applications
DCE 5224AV-DSG is a telecom-level, high-performance IP-DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer) with 24-port VDSL2 / ADSL2+ and 2-port Gigabit TP / SFP combo interfaces, and AC plus DC Redundant Power System. The 5224AV-DSG is fully compliant with ITU-T G.993.2 VDSL2 standard band plan up to profile 30a. It offers maximum download and upload line rate up to 100/100Mbps on the existing twisted pair lines. For ADSL connectivity, the 5224AV-DSG supports high interoperability and backward compatibility with ATU-R, and ADSL2 / ADSL2+ line mode. It is an ideal CO solution for FTTx last mile applications of broadband access by ISPs and Telecoms.

Delivering High-demand Service Connectivity for ISP/Triple Play Devices
The 5224AV-DSG provides excellent bandwidth to meet the requirement of the triple play devices for home entertainment and communications. With the capability of 100/100Mbps symmetric data transmission, the 5224AV-DSG enables many multi-media services to work on the Internet, such as VOD (Video on Demand), Voice over IP, Video phone, IPTV, Internet caching server, distance education, and so on.

ADSL2+ Fallback
For those ISPs that still provide ADSL broadband service, the 5224AV-DSG supports transmission rates up to24Mbps downstream and 3.5Mbps upstream with ADSL 2+ technology. The 5224AV-DSG supports PPPoE relay to establish connection with ISP, and it is switched over to VDSL2 after the network upgrade.

Comprehensive and Advanced VDSL2/ADSL2+ Configuration
For the bandwidth and distance of broadband access, the 5224AV-DSG IP-DSLAM supports multiple selective VDSL2 profiles (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a and 30a), 997/998 band plan and ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ ITU-T G.993.1, ITU-T G.992.3, ITU-T G.992.5, Annex A/B/L/M transmit modes to each subscriber line. Furthermore, it can be configured on a per-link basis for transmission mode, rate limitation, INP (impulse noise protection) and SNR (signal-to-noise) margin. These advanced xDSL functionalities help service providers to adjust the line performance and build a stable and reliable IP-DSLAM solution.

Extremely-reliable Design to Ensure Continuous Operation
The 5224AV-DSG supports the SELT (Single-end Loop Testing) and dual power inputs system for continuous network operation. SELT simplifies the testing of a DSL loop from one end to the line to be completed easily from the central office (CO) without having to require a technician or any equipment to be employed at the subscriber site. SELT makes line maintenance easily and reduces device shutdown time. The 5224AV-DSG is also equipped with one 90~240V AC unit and one DC -48V power supply unit for power redundancy. The Redundant Power System offers more reliability and reduces the possibility of device shutdown. The -48V DC power supply implemented makes the 5224AV-DSG IP-DSLAM as a telecom level device that can be located at the electronic room.

High-speed Broadband Communications for Home Triple Play Application
Nowadays, higher speed home broadband connections are in great demand, but most of the last mile solutions in the market are not easily to be deployed or cost very much. The 5224AV-DSG will be the perfect solution to the last mile deployment for ISP and Telecom service providers as it applies the EoVDSL (Ethernet over VDSL) to providing up to 100Mbps speed transmission capability with the current telephone wire (RJ11), and thus it does not cost too much for re-wiring and can make many multi-media services come true. The 5224AV-DSG not only gives the excellent bandwidth for the triple-play home entertainment and communications, but also supports ADSL2 / ADSL2+ technology for users to conveniently utilize the current ADSL / ADSL2+ device.
