The EnableIT™ 3400R 8 Port 1600W – 48V DC Rackmount PoE Injector is a IEEE 802.3AF certified Midspan solution that is a easy to install and delivers up to 200W @48V DC 8.2A per port. This makes it ideal for installing any PoE enabled WiFi Wireless Access Point, Security camera or other PoE powered equipment up to 4,500ft / 1,371m when used with a Enable-IT PoE Ethernet Extender like the 865 PRO or rackmount Multi-port 8955 PoE Extender DSLAM. It eliminates the need for your installers adding power supply outlets and associated AC power cabling, providing a rackmount, affordable, safe and reliable power solution over your wiring or existing Ethernet infrastructure.

 

The 2U rackmount unit has 8 dedicated DC output screw terminals and comes with 8 18in spade or o-ring connected cabling into a secure locking connector suited for the Enable-IT 8955 Extended PoE DSLAM. You can order the 3400R with 8 RJ-45 PoE pinned male heads vs the secure connectors if you prefer to use our PoE Extenders like the 828 Gigabit or 865 PRO Gigabit PoE Extenders. The unit uses a single (120V ~ 240V) IEC 320 C14 standard Country specific power cord input with a 20A manual reset circuit breaker and Lighted AC Rocker ON/Off Switch in a ventilated rugged enclosure.

Keep in mind that all DC including (PoE) voltage drops over distance and thinker gauge wire will help this issue. As a rule of thumb you will lose 6V per every 200 feet of wiring, depending on the gauge. For example in Category 5 or 6 24 AWG there is less wire/copper to conduct electricity which is lower power throughput. Lower power throughput increases the amperage and that generates more heat in the wire. Depending on distance, you may need to use 18 gauge wiring as a dedicated DC power buss – like low voltage landscape wire and run Ethernet on a 1-pair 24 AWG. There are options to maximize your distance and PoE output when used in conjunction with our PoE Extenders or PoE DSLAM.
