The DCE 5201V-BM is an Ethernet-over-VDSL2 Converter with high performance. It is designed based on two core networking technology, Ethernet and VDSL2 (Very-high-data-rate Digital Subscriber Line 2). The VDSL2 technology offers absolutely fastest data transmission speed over existing copper telephone lines without the need of rewiring. The DCE/5201V-BM supports ultra-high performance to the pervasive telephone line network with up to 100/100Mbps symmetric data rate within 300m and 50/2Mbps for 4,593 Feet (1.4km) long range connections.
Implement with Existing Telephone Copper Wires 
The DCE 5201V-BM is also a Long Reach Ethernet (LRE) converter providing one RJ-45 Ethernet port and one RJ-11 phone jack that is for VDSL2 connection. By using the additional Splitter from the package of a 5201V-BM, the splitter can provide POTS splitter to share the existing phone line with POTS; therefore it is no need of replacing the existing copper wiring. Just plug the DCE/5201V-BM with additional splitter into the existing RJ-11 telephone jack and a high-performance VDSL2 network can be connected. The DCE 5201V-BM is ideal to be used as an Ethernet extender to an existing Ethernet network.
Delivers High-Demand Service Connectivity for ISP / Triple Play Devices
The DCE 5201V-BM provides excellent bandwidth to satisfy the triple play devices for home entertainment and communication. With the capability of 100/100Mbps symmetric data transmission, the 5201V-BM enables many Multi-Media services to work on local Internet, such as VOD (Video on Demand), Voice over IP, Video phone, IPTV, Internet caching server, distance education, and so on.
Easy & Flexible Installation 
The Ethernet-over-VDSL2 Converter is plug-and-play design and fully compatible with all kinds of network protocols. Moreover, the operating status of each individual port and the whole system can be watched via the rich diagnostic LEDs on the front panel. The DCE 5201V-BM offers two modes, CPE and CO, for application: CPE mode is used at client side and CO mode is at central side. The CPE or CO mode can be adjusted by using a built-in DIP switch. For point-to-point connection, a CPE mode DCE 5201V-BM and a CO mode 5201V-BM must be setup as one pair of converters to perform the connection.
Provides Superior Upstream and Downstream Transmission Performance
The DCE/5201V-BM also defines symmetric band plan for the transmission of upstream and downstream signals, the band plan performs higher transmission quality in short range for central side (CO) in symmetric mode. In all, when the DCE 5201V-BM is in profile 17a operation mode, it provides long distance transmit with Ultra-high performance to the pervasive telephone line network, and when the DCE/5201V-BM is in 30a operation mode, it gives short distance transmits with upstream and downstream transmission giving wire speed performance.

Ethernet Distance Extension 
A pair of DCE 5201V-BM in a Point-to-Point application is perfect for an Ethernet distance extender extension over existing telephone wires. With just one pair of AWG-24 copper wire, you can easily connect two Ethernet networks together with a maximum data rate of 100/100Mbps. With the included splitter, the telephone service can still be used while the 5201V-BM CO/CPE is in operation. The 10/100Mbps port of 5201V-BM can be directly connected to a PC or to Ethernet devices such as Ethernet Switches or Broadband Routers. It is excellent for phone line network built under Internet because every room or house could use the existing phone line to transmit data through the Internet and the whole building could share the Internet to the wider area network with minimum cost.

ADSL2+ Fallback
For those ISPs that still provide ADSL broadband service, the 5224AV-DSG supports transmission rates up to24Mbps downstream and 3.5Mbps upstream with ADSL 2+ technology. The 5224AV-DSG supports PPPoE relay to establish connection with ISP, and it is switched over to VDSL2 after the network upgrade.

Comprehensive and Advanced VDSL2/ADSL2+ Configuration
For the bandwidth and distance of broadband access, the 5224AV-DSG IP-DSLAM supports multiple selective VDSL2 profiles (8a, 8b, 8c, 8d, 12a, 12b, 17a and 30a), 997/998 band plan and ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+ ITU-T G.993.1, ITU-T G.992.3, ITU-T G.992.5, Annex A/B/L/M transmit modes to each subscriber line. Furthermore, it can be configured on a per-link basis for transmission mode, rate limitation, INP (impulse noise protection) and SNR (signal-to-noise) margin. These advanced xDSL functionalities help service providers to adjust the line performance and build a stable and reliable IP-DSLAM solution.

Extremely-reliable Design to Ensure Continuous Operation
The 5224AV-DSG supports the SELT (Single-end Loop Testing) and dual power inputs system for continuous network operation. SELT simplifies the testing of a DSL loop from one end to the line to be completed easily from the central office (CO) without having to require a technician or any equipment to be employed at the subscriber site. SELT makes line maintenance easily and reduces device shutdown time. The 5224AV-DSG is also equipped with one 90~240V AC unit and one DC -48V power supply unit for power redundancy. The Redundant Power System offers more reliability and reduces the possibility of device shutdown. The -48V DC power supply implemented makes the 5224AV-DSG IP-DSLAM as a telecom level device that can be located at the electronic room.

Nowadays, higher speed home broadband connections are in great demand, but most of the last mile solutions in the market are not easily to be deployed or cost very much. VDSL2 in Hotel Deployment
The 5224AV-DSG can support the ISP and Telecom service providers in long-distance network deployment. By Ethernet standard, the length of cable can only reach up to 100 meters, and thus, the Ethernet network cannot meet the requirement when the deployment needs a longer cable. To solve this issue, the 5224AV-DSG complies with the VDSL2 / ADSL2+ standard where up to 1.4km in cable length through existing phone wires can be supported. Thus, in the Hotel network, for example, the IPTV, Internet and wireless facilities can be installed in each room even though the central office or control room is over 100 meters away.
